Fishing in Brighton Marina

What a day ,got given free time from the hard job of being a husband, chef, head dogwalker, and delivery person (or general dogsbody) and told get out from under my feet and take your son with you fishing ,Brighton is surely worth a mention when it come to sea fishing free parking too,we started off in the early hours to fish the incoming tide ,and no sooner did we get there it was choice time at the beginning just before the marina there is a boat hire company and numerous outlets ,our favorite one the Brighton Tackle Shop with all the latest rods ,reels and bait which we gave a miss this time as we bought our bait earlier which consisted of mackerel ,lug and ragworm , then it was decision time do we hire a boat or walk the 1/2 mile to the arm ,if we hire a boat then the chances that McDonalds have opened a store 5 miles in the middle of the ocean is very slim ,or we can walk the 1/2 mile and then break for a Big Mac after a few hours ,so the choice was made,we finally got there lugging all the gear settled down on the first cast using just the ragworm on a 3 way trace (that's line with 3 hooks attached) and a 5oz weight with gripper ,i got into a small fish a mullet ok it was only small but in the race between me and my son it still counted ,then re-baited cast off and straight away another one a bit bigger that was 2 fish in a relative short time ,then it was my sons turn he hooked a mackerel which seeing as we already had bait we didn't need so threw it back ,then after a bit of a break (and a lot of luck)he hit onto another 2 mackeral ,then with me feeling a bit put out and let down he had a creyfish ,hang on dad he said let me try a bit of spinning so he attached his spinners (there are 5 hooks with silver attached) and set to it and caught a few more , it worked out that between us we managed to get at least 12 fish not bad for a days work, we broke for dinner a Big Mac about 4pm and caught a bit of sun ,and finally with the sun going and clouds and rain starting we decided at 7pm that we should finally think about getting back ,yep Brighton Marina is not a bad place for fish ,food and generally a good day out.
